Cole Law Partners is a Massachusetts boutique litigation firm focused on construction law, commercial litigation, employment disputes, insurance coverage, and related matters. We represent contractors, business owners, companies, and individuals in complex disputes in state and federal courts and before arbitral forums.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced litigator who wants to take real ownership of cases. Depending on experience, you will manage matters from inception through resolution, work directly with clients and partners to develop strategy, and take responsibility for executing it. We value lawyers who use sound judgment, take initiative, and know when collaboration will produce a better result.

The right person will be intellectually curious, practical, and engaged. We want someone who enjoys working through difficult factual and legal problems, developing strategic and creative approaches, and giving clients clear advice in complicated situations. What You’ll Do

The associate who joins us can expect to:

• Manage litigation matters and substantial case workstreams from initial assessment through resolution.
• Develop and execute case strategy with clients and partners.
• Draft and argue substantive motions and manage significant written and electronic discovery.
• Take and defend depositions, work with experts, and prepare witnesses for testimony.
• Represent clients in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, trials, and other proceedings.
• Maintain direct relationships with clients and opposing counsel and, where appropriate, supervise and develop junior attorneys and staff.

Our matters frequently involve complex contracts, construction projects with technical and scheduling issues, business and ownership disputes, employment matters, insurance coverage questions, and other disputes requiring close attention to facts, documents, financial information, and client objectives.

Qualifications

Required

• Active admission to the Massachusetts bar.
• Approximately three to ten years of civil litigation experience.
• Substantive experience with discovery, motion practice, depositions, and managing litigation matters.
• Excellent legal writing, analytical, communication, and judgment skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, take ownership of matters, and manage competing priorities.

Preferred

• Experience in commercial litigation, construction disputes, or employment litigation.
• Trial, arbitration, or significant evidentiary hearing experience.
• Judicial clerkship or prior experience at a litigation-focused firm.
• Admission to the Rhode Island or New Hampshire bar.

How We Work

Cole Law Partners is currently fully remote, with regular in-person firm meetings and activities, including strategy sessions, client meetings, depositions, hearings, and trials. As we grow, we expect to establish a Massachusetts office to support collaboration, team building, and work that benefits from being done together.

Compensation and Benefits

Our compensation structure is transparent and designed to make the relationship between productivity and compensation clear and predictable. Associates understand in advance how their performance affects compensation, so increased productivity and meaningful contributions to the firm are rewarded accordingly.

We offer:

• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience. $140,000-$200,000.
• Incentive compensation tied to productivity and other meaningful firm contributions.
